I was really, really tough on them this week. You know, the old “you can always be nicer later, but it’s hard to be strict after being easy going” type of deal. So far, we’re off to a great start!
One of my boys is definitely going to give me a run for my money. I’m really working hard to build a strong relationship with him ASAP, because I think that will make a big difference.
Breakdown: 25 students, 16 girls, 9 boys, all receiving free breakfast and lunch every day.
Though I’m really enjoying my new kinder babies, I can’t help but feel a twinge of pain each time I see one of my old babies walking around the first grade hall. It’s so hard not to run and scoop them up in a hug, but I know I need them to stay in their line, they need to make a relationship with their new teacher. I will admit that the few times I’ve run into an old student going to the bathroom alone, I’ve swept them up into a hug right away! I really miss those boogers.
The second and last week of summer school starts on Monday, and overall, I’m pretty positive about my new babies!
